released by the apex bank's Acting Director, Corporate Communications,

ASUU threatens to embark on strike after FG ignores demands
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) through its Lagos Zone
Coordinator, Prof. Olusoji Sowande at a news conference in Lagos on
Tuesday, threatened to embark on a nationwide strike in regards to its

Geneva Gomez, by shoving a crucifix down her throat because she thought

Lagos set to prosecute kidnappers of Oniba
The Lagos State Government on Tuesday commenced moves to charge the
suspected kidnappers of the Oniba of Iba, Oba Goriola Oseni to court for
criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, murder and armed robbery. The
Government, in a statement issued by the Attorney General and
Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Adeniji Kazeem, said the four suspects -
Duba Furejo, Ododomo Isaiah, Reuben Anthony and Yerin Fresh would be
prosecuted in accordance with the relevant laws applicable to the

Governor Aminu Tambuwal raises alarm over influx of bandits into Sokoto State
Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has raised concern over likely influx of
bandits and cattle rustlers, who he said may be taking positions in

CBN directs all Bankers to declare their assets
The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has directed all bankers in the 19
deposit banks in the country to declare their assets immediately. In a
letter sent to all the banks through the Banking Supervision Department
of the CBN, the apex bank mandated all bankers to declare their assets
through a court affidavit. Insiders say the move is not unconnected with
the anti-corruption campaign of this present administration. Only 3 of
the 19 deposit banks have so far had their staff comply with this
directive.

Six of the 15 inmates that escaped during Nsukka jailbreak have been re-arrested
Six of the fifteen inmates that escaped during a jailbreak at the Nsukka
Prison in Enugu state on Tuesday August 9th have been re-arrested. This
was disclosed by the Enugu state comptroller of Nigeria Prisons Service
(NPS), Isaiah Amariri who spoke with newsmen in the state today August
11th.
“There was a jail break in Nsukka prisons on Tuesday night between 12pm and 3am, in which many inmates escaped, though six of them have been re-arrested. I cannot give the exact figure for now as investigations are still on.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kwara state command,
yesterday paraded 74 suspects that were arrested with 391.26 kilogramme
of hard drugs from January to July this year.
Apeh Reuben who is the state NDLEA commander, said 62 of the suspects were males while 12 were females.
He disclosed that 14 of the suspects have been convicted by the state High Court, Ilorin on offences involving possession and smoking of hard drugs. Apeh said their sentences ranged from 12 months to eight years imprisonment.
