Once refused, Dangote still guns for Arsenal

Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, said he still wants to buy English Premier League soccer team Arsenal even after he was rebuffed by its owners in 2010.
Nigeria’s Dangote, an Arsenal fan worth $15.7 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, discussed buying a stake in the club five years ago before talks with the owners fell through, he said. Since then his wealth has grown more than sevenfold.

Avengers say we want sovereign state not contracts

The militant group, Niger Delta Avengers say what they want is a country of their own, and not pipeline contracts.
The group also claimed to have blown up another NNPC Gas and Crude trunkline close to Warri, that was purportedly heavily guarded by military personnel.
The group in a series of tweets said, ““At 11:45PM on Thursday, @NDAvengers blew up another NNPC Gas and Crude trunkline close to Warri. Pipeline that was heavily guarded by the military.”
It also tweeted that “The Niger Delta stakeholders meeting is an insult to the people of the Niger Delta. What we need is a sovereign state, not pipeline contracts.
“To the International Oil Companies, IOCs and the Nigeria military, watch out, something big is about to happen and it would shock the whole world.”

Police Officer stopping an ISIS Sucide bomber in Iraq

The heads of the financial sectors in Nigeria are to come before the house members to explain why Nigerian's economy is sliding downwards.

6 states ravaged by tomato Ebola, FG says

The Federal Government of Nigeria through the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Audu Ogbeh has announced that six Nigerian states are currently fighting the spread of “Tomato Ebola”, a disease spread by a moth known as Tuta absoluta.
The minister who made the revelation at a press briefing in Abuja on Tuesday, May 24, said the disease was responsible for the destruction of many tomato fields, in Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, Plateau and Lagos leading to a scarcity of the vegetable.

Alert! Scammers inviting victims under EFCC guise

The EFCC has raised am alarm over a purported scam email indicating that it is inviting certain individuals to report to its office regarding a fraudulent transaction.
It therefore warned members of the public to ignore “any message allegedly coming from the EFCC that their banks have sent a report of fraudulent transaction on their account.”
The agency said in a statement on Wednesday, that “The said mail is not from the EFCC.

40 Nigerians deported by the UK and Australia

A group of Nigerians numbering up to 40 (33 males and seven females) were jointly deported by the UK and Australia after they were alleged to have committed various forms of offences in the two mentioned countries.
Reports say the deportees who were flown into the country in two chartered flights arrived the Hajj Camp area of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport at 7:25 a.m. this morning.

Court orders Jonathan, Okonjo-Iweala to give account of missing N30tn

Former Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala  and the Federal Government have been ordered by a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos to “provide information on the spending of the alleged missing N30 trillion which represents some accruable income to the Federal Government during the last four years of the Administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.”
Justice Ibrahim Buba delivered the judgement following a Freedom of Information suit brought by Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP.
SERAP had gone to court following revelations by a former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Charles Soludo, that at least N30 trillion “has either been stolen or unaccounted for, or grossly mismanaged over the last few years under the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala’s watch.”

EFCC obtains order to detain Fani-Kayode for another 21 days

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has obtained another court order to keep a former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, in detention for another 21 days.
It would be recalled that the anti-corrupttion agency had earlier secured a first order to keep the former Director of Media and Publicity of the PDP Presidential Campaign for 14 days after he was detained when he honoured an invitation extended to him.

Curbing Corruption Help Fight Against Insurgency - President Buhari
