The allegedly drunk Nigerian woman, who was arrested on Monday evening
after she created a ruckus near National Market, chased policemen who
came to calm her down and bit two passersby, was discharged from
National Institute of Mental Health and Neuros Sciences (NIMHANS) on
Tuesday evening.
Marian and her friend Yesudas Puthambara, who hailed
from Kerala, had caused ugly scenes near National Market. Alerted by
passersby, Upparpet police rushed to the spot and tried to calm her down
but she chased them away. Finally, a few policewomen had to pin her
down and tie her. She was taken to KC General Hospital where she was
made to undergo tests and later referred to NIMHANS after she showed no
sign of sobriety.
On Tuesday evening, Marian was cold sober and then discharged. Police
took her into custody and rushed her to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in
Jayanagar as she complained of pain. Police said Puthambara has been
accompanying Marian. They are students of a management college in north
Bengaluru and stay together in Sanjaynagar.
Police said a shopkeeper and an autorickshaw driver bitten by the woman
were given first-aid. Police added that Maria's blood samples have been
sent for tests.
