Pres Buhari hosts Ooni of Ife, Sultan of Sokoto & other traditional rulers to breaking of Ramadan fast (photos)

Journalist Femi Owolabi shared this update on the boy via his Facebook page, saying the government hasn't fulfilled its promise to sponsor the boy's education. According to him;

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Oby Ezekwesili, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, Senator Shehu Sani, have joined other Nigerians to mourn the death of former Minister of Transport and one time Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ojo Maduekwe, who died yesterday June 29th. The former Minister was returning from Dubai where he had gone for one of his sons graduation when he slumped at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. Man banned from sex without giving police 24 hours notice to go on hunger strike

A man who has been cleared of rape still has to give police 24 hours' notice before he has sex and has threatened to go on hunger strike.
The single man, in his 40s, admitted to previously having an interest in sado-masochistic sex and used to visit a Fifty Shades Of Grey-style fetish club with an ex-partner.
He has accused North Yorkshire Police of "sour grapes" after his acquittal for rape at a retrial, having spent 14 months in jail..

The allegedly drunk Nigerian woman, who was arrested on Monday evening after she created a ruckus near National Market, chased policemen who came to calm her down and bit two passersby, was discharged from National Institute of Mental Health and Neuros Sciences (NIMHANS) on Tuesday evening.
Marian and her friend Yesudas Puthambara, who hailed from Kerala, had caused ugly scenes near National Market. Alerted by passersby, Upparpet police rushed to the spot and tried to calm her down but she chased them away. Finally, a few policewomen had to pin her down and tie her. She was taken to KC General Hospital where she was made to undergo tests and later referred to NIMHANS after she showed no sign of sobriety.

On Tuesday evening, Marian was cold sober and then discharged. Police took her into custody and rushed her to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Jayanagar as she complained of pain. Police said Puthambara has been accompanying Marian. They are students of a management college in north Bengaluru and stay together in Sanjaynagar.

Police said a shopkeeper and an autorickshaw driver bitten by the woman were given first-aid. Police added that Maria's blood samples have been sent for tests.

Turkish officials confirmed there were international passengers among those killed in the terror attack on Istanbul's Ataturk airport. According to AFP, an official said the death toll consisted of 23 Turkish and 13 foreign nationals, including one Iranian and one Ukrainian.

The death toll for Tuesday's attack on the airport stands at 36 with almost 150 wounded. Three suicide bombers carried out what appears to be a coordinated attack, opening fire with automatic weapons before blowing themselves up.

FG Investigates, Clears Buratai over his Dubai Assets

The FG has reportedly investigated and cleared the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai over his assets and military acquisitions, which has been in the news for some days now...

Last week, Sahara Reporters reported that the Army chief and his two wives used money meant for purchase of arms to buy properties in Dubai immediately after he came into office. The Army in response said Buratai and his wives had bought the properties using money from his life savings (Read here).

PRNigeria, the military under-cover media machinery, released a statement yesterday June 28th, saying the Federal government has cleared him of any wrong doing. According to the statement, the purchase of the buildings was made based on capital market principles of shareholding, meaning he had shares in companies that bought the buildings in question and does not own it completely.

The Facebook billionaire founder has built a 6' stone wall around his $100 million Kauai property that has blocked out the Pacific Ocean to neighbors and according to TMZ, many of them are livid.

"The Facebook founder bought the 750-acre estate in 2014 and now wants to shore it up, but a 5'8" neighbor for one is furious, because now she can't see water.

Some neighbors claim they've tried reaching out to Zuckerberg, to no avail. TMZ contacted the zoning department in the area and were told no one has lodged a formal complaint and there is no investigation.

Graphic: Mentally deranged man beheads 70-year-old farmer, roams around with victim's head

A 70-year year old farmer was on Tuesday, June 28 beheaded by a mentally deranged man at Akpafu-Menpease in the Hohoe municipality of the Volta region, Ghana.

The suspect identified as Emmanuel Kadidze, 56, was said to have murdered Samuel Okiti in the early hours of Tuesday, while he was on his way to the farm.

Kadidze, who is said to be mentally unstable was seen roaming the community with the head of the victim, which drew attention.

"When we went to the scene, we saw that he dismembered the body into parts, therefore carrying the head around," an eyewitness said.

Residents mustered courage and accosted him before handing him over to the Police, who have commence investigations into the incident. Kadidze, is said to have been battling a mental condition for some time now, which has seen him in and out of prayer camps.

Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, has written a 2-page letter to leaders of the United Nations, European Union, United States’ Congress, European Union (EU) Parliament, governments of United States, United Kingdom and other foreign missions, over what he described as an attempt to truncate Nigeria’s democracy, clamp down on opposition and silence him as the leader and highest ranking member of the opposition in the country, all in the name of prosecuting an alleged forgery case. He wants the international community to decide whether or not the trial he and Saraki are facing was justified or if it's one purely borne out of political vendetta.

Saudi Arabia has cracked down on young men who wear haircuts, necklaces and clothes that are considered un-Islamic during the month of Ramadan. The suspects were arrested in the Saudi city of Makkah, Islam's holiest site, according to Saudi news website Sabq.

At least 10 people have been confirmed dead while over 40 were seriously injured after ISIS militants attacked Ataturk International Airport in Istanbul, Turkey this evening. The airport officials say two suspects blew themselves up before passing through the x-ray security checkpoint at the airport after shots were fired by police officers to neutralize them.

Gunshots were heard in the airport car park, video footage shows people running for cover inside the terminal building. Meanwhile ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The Federal High Court, Ado-Ekiti has ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Zenith Bank plc to show cause why an Order Exparte to defreeze Governor Ayodele Fayose's accounts, filed yesterday to the court by the governor's legal team, should not be granted. The judge gave Monday July 4 for the anti-graft agency and Zenith bank Plc to appear in court with the said evidence.

Former Niger Delta militant, Government Ekpemepulo aka Tompolo who is currently in hiding, has written another open letter to President Buhari. In his new letter, the ex militant leader asked the president to learn from former President Musa Yar'Adua who in 2009, introduced the Amnesty programme for Niger Delta militants after discovering that attacking the militants was not a good idea. Kemi Adeosun says no going back on suspended Special Overtime Allowance for Ministry for Finance workers

Last week, civil servants in the Ministry of Finance staged a protest at the Ministry's secretariat where they called for the sack of the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun over the non-payment of their special overtime allowance. The workers barricaded the entrance to the ministry and accused the Minister of stopping their allowance.

Speaking on Channels TV this morning, Adeosun said the suspension of the Special Overtime Allowance for the workers had been stopped by her predecessor, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala

SGF defends Buhari's ambassadorial list, says Federal character not compulsory for ambassadorial appointments

Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir David Lawal, has defended President Buhari's ambassadorial list which he sent to the senate on June 9th for screening. Babachir's statement comes days after the senate summoned him and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Godffrey Onyeama, over what it described as irregularities in the 47 names put forward for screening.

During their plenary last Wednesday, most of the Senators argued that the list did not reflect Federal character as 4 states namely Bayelsa, Ebonyi, Ondo and Plateau, did not get any nomination.

UK Prime Minister David Cameron resigned today after his devastating defeat in the EU referendum. He had fought strongly for Britain to remain in the EU but lost. He said he will stay in post till about October this year when a new Prime Minister is chosen. He said the country requires fresh leadership.

Oscar Pistorius has admitted he deserves a long jail sentence for killing Reeva Steenkamp but vehemently denied he murdered her, insisting that the 2013 shooting was not premeditated. A 20-year-old Nigerian man has been found guilty of murdering a teenage boy in north London.

Uchechukwu Ejimonye, of Roth Walk, N7 was yesterday, Wednesday, 22 June found guilty at the Old Bailey in connection with the death of 17-year-old Vasilaki Kakko in Holloway. He will be sentenced today Thursday, 23 June.

The Assets Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON) have reportedly secured an order from a Federal High Court in Lagos, to take over companies owned by businessman, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce.

According to Sahara Reporters, Murray-Bruce and his family members who are his business partners have defaulted in the repayment of N11billion loan to banks. They will now take over Silverbird Cinemas and other companies by Thursday morning over the alleged loan default.

Senate President Bukola Saraki, has described the allegations of forgery of senate standing order leveled against him and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu by the Federal government as another wanton abuse of the judicial process and making a mockery of the institution of justice.

In a statement released by his special adviser on media and publicity, Yusuf Olaniyonu yesterday June 22nd, Saraki said some people were trying to implicate him in keeping with their declared vow to ensure that even if their current efforts to nail him through the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) fails, they would find other ways to carry out their vendetta.
